Our story started with a simple problem

The story behind TDM Signage began long before the platform itself was created.

In 2003, Ricardo De Vries was already working with digital signage systems and helping organisations manage content across their screens.

At the time, many digital signage platforms were difficult to understand, complicated to maintain, and heavily dependent on technical specialists. Customers often needed additional tools just to make their systems work the way they expected.

Ricardo and his team developed add-ons, web extensions, data connections, and custom solutions to overcome these limitations. These workarounds helped customers, but they also revealed a bigger problem.

The market did not need another temporary fix. It needed a complete digital signage platform designed around the people who would actually use it.

Building TDM Signage

In 2012, Ricardo and a team of two developers began creating TDM Signage.

The goal was clear: to build digital signage software that anyone could use, even without advanced technical knowledge.

The platform needed to make it easy to create content, organise playlists, schedule updates, manage screens, and connect external data. At the same time, it had to be flexible enough to support both small organisations and large companies with extensive screen networks.

TDM Signage was developed and operated under Blue and Red B.V., the company behind the software before it later became part of ScreenCom Group.

The name TDM originally stood for Trending Digital Marketing, reflecting the ambition to bring a new and more practical approach to the digital signage market.

From the first 30 screens to an international platform

The first version of TDM Signage was introduced at a school in Leeuwarden, where it was used to manage approximately 30 screen licences.

It was a relatively small first deployment, but it demonstrated that professional digital signage could be made simpler, more accessible, and easier to maintain.

From there, TDM continued to develop around real customer needs.

The platform grew from a local project into an international digital signage solution used by local businesses, franchises, schools, hospitality organisations, healthcare providers, corporate teams, stadiums, and other organisations around the world.

What began with two developers also grew into a wider organisation of more than 30 people, while the software continued to be developed from Leeuwarden.

Throughout this growth, the original vision remained the same: make digital signage simple to use, reliable, scalable, and affordable.

A new chapter with ScreenCom

In May 2025, Blue and Red B.V., the company behind TDM Signage, merged with ScreenCom.

Together, the companies formed ScreenCom Group.

The merger brought together complementary experience in digital signage software, technology development, implementation, customer support, and workplace communication.

TDM contributed more than a decade of platform development and a product built around simplicity, flexibility, and real customer needs. ScreenCom brought extensive experience in delivering, implementing, and supporting digital signage and workplace technology solutions.

By joining forces, the companies created a stronger organisation with broader expertise, greater development capacity, and a shared vision for the future of digital communication.

The merger marked a new chapter for TDM Signage, but it did not change the purpose behind the platform. TDM continues to be developed around the same goal that shaped it from the beginning: making professional digital signage easier for everyone to use.

Developed around real customer needs

Customer feedback has shaped TDM from the beginning and continues to influence its development today.

The platform was originally created because the available systems did not meet the practical needs of their users. That same principle continues to guide new features, integrations, and improvements.

TDM is developed by its own team in Leeuwarden and improved through regular software releases throughout the year.

New functionality is not added simply to make the platform appear more complex. Every improvement should make TDM more useful, more reliable, or easier to manage.

This customer-led approach allows the platform to evolve with changing technology and market needs without losing the simplicity behind the original idea.
